How to Renew Your RCFE & ARF Administrator Certification in California

Stay Certified with NCPI’s State-Approved RCFE Renewal Courses

If you are a licensed RCFE (Residential Care Facility for the Elderly) Administrator in California, you must complete continuing education (CEUs) every two years to maintain your certification.

At National Care Professionals Institute (NCPI), we provide state-approved renewal courses to help you meet California Department of Social Services (CDSS) requirements and keep your certification valid.

Step-by-Step Guide to Renewing Your RCFE Administrator Certification

Step 1: Check Your Certification Expiration Date

Your RCFE administrator certification must be renewed every two years. Be sure to check your certificate expiration date so you don’t miss your renewal deadline.

💡 TIP: You can verify your certification status on the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) website.

Step 2: Complete 40 Hours of Continuing Education (CEUs)

To renew your administrator certification, you must complete:

✔ 40 hours of CEUs every two years

✔ At least 20 hours must be taken in a live setting (in-person or live webinar)

✔ The remaining 20 hours can be online self-paced courses

💡 NCPI offers flexible, state-approved CEU courses that fit your schedule! Explore our courses here.

Step 3: Submit Your Renewal Application to CDSS

Once you’ve completed the required 40 CEU hours, submit your renewal application to CDSS before your expiration date.

Required Documents:

LIC 9214 – Administrator Certification Renewal Application

• Proof of completed CEUs (Certificates from NCPI or other approved providers)

• Renewal Fee ($300 for RCFE)

Step 4: Submit Your Renewal Before Your Expiration Date

To avoid any processing delays, submit your renewal at least 30 days before expiration. Late renewals may result in additional fees or certification lapses.
